Paolo Carlini – Bassoonist
PAOLO CARLINI graduated with honours at the Conservatory of Ferrara and specialised with Marco Costantini and Klaus Thunemann.
In 1987 Carlini become the principal bassoonist of the Orchestra della Toscana and has held this position with the orchestras of Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Orchestras of the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, the Fenice in Venice, the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, the Orchestra Sinfonica Rai in Rome and the Filarmonica della Scala under the conductors Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Muti, Myung-Whun Chung, Esa Pekka Salonen , Daniel Harding, Eliahu Inbal, Rafael F.de Burgos, Neville Marriner,Daniele Gatti…
In chamber music he has worked with Julian Rachlin, Pavel Vernikov, Massimo Quarta, Janine Jansen, Alain Meunier, Franco Petracchi, Hansjorg Schellenberger, Antony Pay, Bruno Canino, Alessandro Specchi and has given concerts at the Carnegie Hall in New York, the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, the Conservatorio in Tel Aviv, the Festival Open Air in Munich, the Festival Le Nuits Musicales de Nice, Lubljana Festival, Stresa Festival, the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires and the Concert Hall in Tokyo and Hong-Kong.
He has always been interested in contemporary music and has worked with Luciano Berio, Sofia Gubaidulina, Jean Francaix, Sylvano Bussotti and Ludovico Einaudi.
Works for solo bassoon have been dedicated to him by Ennio Morricone, Luis de Pablo, Giorgio Gaslini, Dimitri Nicolau, Marco Betta , Carlo Boccadoro ,Johntery Plumeri, Enrico Pieranunzi, Nicola Sani, Claudio Ambrosini, Alessandra Bellino,Andrea Portera, Matteo D’Amico, Giorgio Colombo Taccani, Giancarlo Cardini,Enrico Pieranunzi, Maurizio Fabrizio Alessandro Solbiati, Nicola Campogrande, Luca Mosca.
As a soloist he has recorded for Sony Classical, CPO, Chandos, Naxos, Tactus, Fone’, Frame, Bongiovanni.
Paolo Carlini is regularly invited to give advanced courses and master classes at the Conservatorio National Superior de Lion, New York University, Rachmaninov Conservatory of Rostov on Don, Ural Music College of Ekaterinburg, Kazan State Conservatory, Haue Ecole de Musique of Lausanne Lousanne,the IDRS Congres in Buenos Aires, the CEI Youth Orchestra, OGI Orchestra Giovanile Italiana, Praeneste International Music Academy of Rome and he teaches bassoon at the Conservatorio of Livorno.
